Applied Mathematics at the University of Nevada Reno

Applied Mathematics Research

The applied mathematics research group in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Nevada Reno consists of 6 full time faculty and 1 postdoc. Our research covers both continuous and discrete applied mathematics and focuses on the following fields.
  1. Dynamical systems, control theory, fluid dynamics, differential equations and computational mathematics.
  2. Game theory, combinatorics and operations research.
The applied mathematics research group actively collaborates with probability and statistics, geosciences, hydrology, seismology, computer science and engineering. Our work is motivated by problems in business, economics, physical sciences and engineering. Areas of focus include ground water, climate, health, optimal strategies and fluid dynamics. For more information please look at our recent publications.
