Don Pfaff has invited the department to a Christmas party on
December 11 starting 5pm at his home.
Please RSVP by before December 8 if you can come.
Don will provide his famous spaghetti and meatballs and
various snacks. If you can, please bring something to share.

The Computing Committee is charged to solicit your request for software
and hardware. Please send us your request by email by November 15.
Please provide a short justification, price and vendor for the proposed
items. Put in the subject area of your email 'CC request' which would
let us to better track your emails.

Chairman James Dean Leavitt and Vice Chairman Jason Geddes have written
a letter addressed to all students,
staff, faculty and administration, expressing the gratitude of the Board
of Regents and the Chancellor to students, staff, faculty and
administration for their contributions to the Nevada System of Higher
Education.

The annual Putnam Pizza Party will be held next Thursday, Sept. 30, at
5:30 PM in the conference room 315DMS. Please announce this in all
classes where there is a chance of some student being interested and
encourage all good students to come to the party and hear words that
encourage them to take the exam..

[10-Aug-10] Open House
You are invited to an open house celebrating the Davidson
Mathematics and Science Center Tuesday, August 10 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
This 105,000 square foot innovative learning facility will
become a hub for student education, provide a significant
enhancement of the university's undergraduate research
capabilities, as well as become a centralized location for the
College of Science.
[14-Jun-10] New Building
We cannot get into the new building prior to June 14th and the last day
we will have access to our old offices is July 1st.
If you don't want to take your chair, there will be one available for you
in your new office. In addition there will be two additional chairs in
your office for visiting students.
Each office desk has three lateral file drawers and two smaller drawers.
Overhead there will be two bins for binders and books. Additionally, each
office has two bookshelves, 26"H x 36"W, with two shelves and the top.
Each office has a white board mounted on the wall opposite the desk.
[05-May-10] Department Potluck
Please join us to celebrate the end of the semester, wish our graduating
grads well, and cheer on some award winners. We'll be having a potluck
on May 5th from 11am-1pm in the conference room, AB 638. The theme is
Cinco de Mayo and we have a sign-up sheet for food in the break room on
the bulletin board next to microwave. See you there!

[08-Jan-10] Online Math Resource for Students and Faculty
A new online numerical methods laboratory that is freely accessible to
students, teachers and the public will make it easier for everyone to
learn and use modern techniques of scientific computing without having
to purchase expensive software or computer.
